Winter Beauty Tips for Your Skin

Well-Being

The cold temperatures of winter can be hard on our bodies, minds and especially our skin. When the humidity levels drop in the winter, it can make your skin dry out even more. It’s important to balance out this hydration loss and keep your skin hydrated and moisturized so you can avoid that classic winter itching feeling.

How to Avoid Dry Skin in the Winter

There are some things in your daily routine that you’ll want to avoid when the winter months come along. Take extra care not to use too much hot water or soap. Make sure you are not using too many harsh chemicals, moisturize frequently, wear sunscreen and especially watch your diet.

Take Shorter Showers

It might be tempting when the weather is cool to jump in a hot shower for a long time and pretend like it’s still summertime. Taking a long hot shower in the winter could be harmful if you’re trying to manage dry skin. Instead, try to take a cooler shower or at least, shorten the length of time that you are in the hot water. As hard as it might be, try to keep your showers to ten minutes or less. Your skin will thank you.

Use Less Soap and Moisturize

All that hand sanitizer that you’ve been using to combat germs could be harmful for dry skin. Make sure you are making up for it by applying a moisturizing cream right after washing or using hand sanitizer. You’ll also want to double check that shampoo and conditioner you’ve been using to make sure it’s not going to dry your skin or hair out when you step out of the shower.

Watch Your Diet

Your food intake can do wonders and help to rejuvenate dry winter skin. It’s important to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and also get this hydration from eating healthy foods. Fruits and vegetables can help regulate your water intake and keep your skin, lips and hair from drying out.

Don’t Forget the Sunscreen

Sunscreen isn’t just for the beach! The sun is still very strong in the winter months and it’s very important to keep your skin protected even while the temperatures drop. Apply sunscreen every time you plan on going outside to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.

These are just a few simple winter beauty  tips to help you keep your skin and body healthy 365 days out of the year.
