5 Ways to Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

Being in a comfort zone often means that you are being held back. While you may think you are comfortable, you may find yourself wishing for changes yet not really having the nerve to step out of your comfort zone to make these changes. Depending on the issues, this could make your life feel as though it is not as great as it could be. And no one wants to live their life like this. With this being said, here are a few ways to step out of your comfort zone so you can take those chances that could change your life.

1. Say “yes” more often

If you are one that rarely says yes, then pick a goal and say yes to what people ask. If you are asked to come out after work with coworkers, say yes and follow through on this.

2. Mix up your music

Many people who have comfort zone will have one type of music that they listen to. This can be an easy step. Yes, you may not like it at first, but making this change can make it easier to make changes in other areas of your life. So, next time when driving to work switch the radio to a station that you have never listened to.

3. Start with baby steps

Don’t make a sudden change, instead start with small things like saying yes and mixing up your music. These small steps are going to make it easier for you to make larger changes later without feeling out of control.

4. Rationalize your fear

What do you fear? Rationalize this fear and slowly overcome it. If you are afraid of what others will think of you, then start to realize that it doesn't matter. All that matters is what you think of yourself and if you are happy then that is all that matters.

5. Change your routines

Many people who are in a comfort zone often find that they have routines that never deviate. So change it up. If you normally go home straight after work to watch TV, why not change this up and take a walk after work instead. These small changes are going to make you more open to the challenges that are in your life and overcoming these challenges.

Being in a comfort zone is not a great or healthy way to live your life. Make changes now to start stepping out of this comfort zone, you will be happier with these changes.
