How to Prevent Muscle Soreness

After a workout, one of the biggest issues that people face is muscle soreness. This muscle soreness can make you feel as if the workout that you just did wasn’t worth it. That is why everyone needs to know how to prevent muscle soreness so that you can get back to your normal life sooner than you thought.

Faster Recovery Muscle Soreness

For those who are eager to have faster recovery from muscle soreness, they are going to find that a huge part of this is going to be the routine you have before you start to workout. Be sure that you are warming up, as this can help your muscles to get ready for the workout, reducing the soreness that you are feeling.

To prevent muscle soreness consider these tips:

  1. Hydrate, and hydrate some more! Many times, the muscle soreness that people feel is due to not being hydrated, so be sure to drink plenty of water before, during and after your workout.
  2. After an intense workout, be sure to eat protein rich foods at least a half hour later. This will help to put much needed minerals and vitamins back into the muscles, which can help with the soreness.
  3. Use a foam roller on the muscles that are usually sore after your workout, as this can help them to relax, tensing up less, which can cause them to be even more sore.
  4. Be sure that you are getting enough rest. After you have had an intense workout, be sure to get a good night’s sleep as this is going to give your muscles time to recover, which will mean soreness will be reduced the next day.
  5. Don’t do strenuous workouts several days in a row, as this is going to lead to the muscles being even more sore. The idea is to do a hard workout one day, then follow this up with a lighter workout the next day.
  6. Take a soak in Epsom salt, as this can be a way to help relax the muscles.
  7. Eat some potassium to help with the soreness. You can eat a banana or you can opt for kiwis which are known for their potassium count as well.
  8. Ingesting some caffeine after your workout can help to prevent muscle soreness as well as the caffeine helps to replenish glycogen into the muscles.

Remember that some muscle soreness is to be expected after an intense workout. However, with these tips you can prevent muscle soreness and treat it so that it doesn’t ruin the rest of your day.
