Clean Eating Grocery: Useful List For Beginners

From skipping your favourite foods to eating more and more veg, eating clean can be far from easy. One of the biggest influences on success when it comes to clean eating, though, is having the right foods in the cupboards. If you buy clean foods, you’re more likely to find yourself eating them rather than buying junk when you’re on the go.

It can be hard to know what a clean eating grocery list exactly looks like… but we’re here to help! Let’s get started…

What Does Eating Clean Mean?

It’s important to ask the question “what does clean eating mean?” before we really get started. Clean eating will look slightly different for different people. For those who are trying to gain muscle, for instance, they will focus on eating lean proteins like chicken and fish. For those who are vegan, on the other hand, fruit and veg will be the bulk of a clean eating grocery list.

The basic principle is this… Your diet should consist of fresh, whole foods. Very little of this food will be processed or with added unhealthy ingredients.

So, what are some staple foods for clean eating?

Clean Eating Grocery List For Beginners:

When you’re starting out with clean eating, it’s important to eat foods that you enjoy! Clean eating really doesn’t have to be boring and, if you make it interesting, it’s way more likely that you’ll stick at it.

Here’s an example of a super tasty clean eating grocery list. Of course, feel free to make tweaks based on your specific diet!

  • Grains or grain-based pasta
  • Beans
  • Freshly caught fish
  • Free-range chicken breasts
  • Kale, spinach and any other dark green leaves
  • Fruits (any and all fruits are great but blueberries and other anti-oxidant high fruits are even better)
  • Broccoli
  • Onions
  • Cabbage
  • Cauliflower
  • Eggs (though you may choose not to eat the yolk)
  • Coconut oil for cooking
  • Oat or almond milk
  • Quinoa
