Healthy detox smoothies to purify your body

At some point, you have most likely seen a green smoothie and thought to yourself ‘no way could that actually taste good’. But a healthy detox smoothie can actually be delicious and is a great healthy meal alternative or energizing, caffeine-free pick-me-up. When it is balanced with protein, carbs and fat, you’ll feel sustained and refreshed!

The word ‘detox’ is often used nowadays to promote specific products, but you can make simple and healthy detox smoothies within the comfort of your own home. It is a great way to pack in the nutrients, have a tasty meal, and purify your body, all ready within just a few minutes.

Now... you may be wondering what pairs well and how to make healthy detox smoothies that actually taste good and won’t spike your blood sugar.

So, whip out that blender! Let’s go on to find out how to make four delicious and healthy detox smoothie recipes that energize you and push natural toxins out. For each recipe, simply add all ingredients to a blender, blend until smooth, pour, and enjoy! For a cold smoothie, use frozen fruit or simply a bit of ice.

Healthy detox smoothie recipes:

1. Green Protein Smoothie


  • 1 oz lacinato kale
  • 1 tangerine - peeled
  • 4 oz pineapple
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 tbsp pea protein
  • 3 tbsp almonds
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ice

This healthy green detox smoothie has only 10g of natural sugar, and is high in vitamins K, A and C with great anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The healthy fat from the avocado balances it out and gives it that delicious creamy texture. Tip: use non-frozen avocado for extra creaminess.

2. Yellow Turmeric Ginger


  • 1 yellow squash - chopped
  • 1 orange - peeled
  • 1 oz kumquats
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 inch ginger - peeled
  • 1 tbsp hemp seed
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ice

This immune boosting smoothie contains two superstars: yellow squash, which provides you with iron and folate, and turmeric, which is a powerful superfood known for decreasing inflammation. The hemp seeds are your source of fat and make it a bit creamy.

3. Kale and Apple Green Detox Smoothie


  • ⅔ cup almond milk (unsweetened)
  • ¾ cup ice
  • 1 ½ cups kale (chopped)
  • 1 stalk celery (chopped)
  • ½ red or green apple (cored and chopped)
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seed
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)

The almond milk in this smoothie balances out the bite of the kale, and the apple and celery give it that smoothness. Your source of fat here is the flax seed.

4. Kale Strawberry Banana Detox Smoothie


  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup yogurt (plain)
  • 1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup Kale (chopped)
  • 1 cup ice

Strawberry-banana flavor is a childhood classic. With these two ingredients and the yogurt as your healthy fat, you wouldn’t even know there were greens in this smoothie if it weren’t for the color!
