How to boost self-confidence in 7 steps: tips and tricks

When it comes to how to your boost self-confidence, it is all about finding what works for you and learning as you go. Your relationship with yourself is the most important one you have, so give yourself the time and attention that you deserve! How to boost self-confidence

Here are 7 activities to boost self-confidence:

1. Get to know yourself

Self-awareness is crucial in order to boost self-confidence. After all, you’ll want to know what you respond to and how you really feel in different situations.

So, take the time and space to self-reflect and really get to know yourself.

Try this exercise: Close your eyes. Picture a time when you felt to be on top of the world, really confident and in your element. When was this? Where were you? Who surrounded you? What were you wearing? What did you smell? Get as specific as possible. Now open your eyes and hold onto that feeling.

How can you bring more of that into your life today? What can you shift in your current environment that will give you even just a taste of what you felt in that moment? This is a great exercise to practice some self-reflection and be fully present in the moment. Be your own cheerleader here!

2. Exercise

Endorphins are absolutely powerful. When you get movement in, even if it is a simple walk outside, your body gets used to being in flow and your overall health improves, not to mention your mood! If you are feeling a bit down, stressed, or simply in need of a pick-me-up, get outside or get yourself to the gym or a workout class!

Do you love boxing or playing soccer with friends? Choose something you love and feel strong in, and it will boost your confidence as you do it! After all, have you ever worked out and not felt better and more confident afterwards?

3. Be prepared

Scrambling and feeling unprepared is not a recipe for success or self-confidence. Instead, do what you need to do to prepare and feel ready to go. That way, when you find yourself at that work meeting or group workout, for example, you’ll feel confident and ready.

4. Consider the ‘self’ you present

Do you get an extra little pep in your step after getting your haircut or walking out in a new outfit? Consider the ‘self’ you present to the outside world. Do you feel your best? Most people feel their best with a smile on their face, with ironed clothes, and proper grooming.

So as you want to boost your self-confidence, consider doing something for your ‘self’ that you present. Maybe that’s getting your nails done, getting your hair done, going to the barber, or simply getting some sun. Treat yourself!

5. Surround yourself with positivity

It might sound cheesy, but the things, thoughts, and people you surround yourself with matter. Incorporate a daily practice of gratitude into your routine, where you write down 5 things you are grateful for. It can be anything, from something about you or something in your environment that brings positivity into your life.

Consider also the entertainment you turn to. Watch movies and shows and listen to music that you find inspiring and make you feel happy. Especially if you are sensitive to it, entertainment can really affect your mood.

6. Let the negativity go

As you surround yourself with positivity, take a look at what is bringing negativity into your life. Is work bringing in negative energy, or perhaps simply your approach to your job? Or perhaps there are relationships in your life that are weighing you down, or television shows that are full of drama and violence that make you feel a bit stressed.

Let the negativity go and don’t feel guilty for doing so! Keep in mind that it is up to you what you surround yourself with, and for the things that you cannot change… you can change your approach and attitude towards them.

7. Set realistic goals

Don’t you feel confident and successful when you meet a goal? When you set realistic goals for yourself, chances are better that you will set out and manage to reach them with an ‘I know I can’ attitude.

One method to goal setting is to start out with a simple goal. Once you reach one goal, you will feel accomplished and ready to tackle the next! It may seem like a shortcut, but when you write out your to-do list for the day, start out by listing two simple goals that you know you can accomplish quickly. That way, you start the day on the right foot, feeling accomplished and confident.

Be patient with yourself as you discover what truly gives you a confidence boost! It is so important to be curious, try new activities to boost self-confidence, and believe in yourself. After all, you deserve it.
