How to fall asleep fast: 5 tips

Have you found yourself tossing and turning at night, unable to fall asleep? If you are wondering how to fall asleep fast, read on to discover 5 tips to fall asleep and stay asleep.

How to fall asleep quickly:

1. Turn off all technology 1 hour before bed

For many people, screen time is a natural part of the day. What can disrupt sleep, however, is scrolling through your phone, working on your laptop, or binge watching television late into the evening. Give your eyes and brain a break from the visual stimulation and screen time an hour before you go to bed and you will notice a major difference in how easy it is to fall asleep. You can opt for nighttime activities that encourage relaxation, such as journaling, stretching, talking with loved ones, a calming self-care routine, or reading a book.

2. Meditate

Meditation is one of the best tricks to fall asleep, as well as a wonderful habit to form to improve your overall mental and physical health. You can follow a guided meditation where you focus on decluttering your headspace, or simply focus on your breath for a few minutes. Whether you do a 2 or 20-minute meditation, the deeper the benefits will feel the more consistent you do a meditation practice.

3. Write down your thoughts

A racing mind is not conducive to an easy time falling asleep. So one of the best ways to help you fall asleep and stay asleep is to write down any thoughts that you have circling your mind. A 5-minute free write where you simply write without any process or organization and just let your thoughts flow on paper can help your mind release the charge racing thoughts carry and ease into peace. To enter your sleep state in a positive mindset, end your writing session with 5 things that you are grateful for.

4. Create your ideal sleep environment

What is your ideal sleep environment where you find it easiest to fall asleep fast? Do you fall asleep easier when the room is a bit cold and you are covered in blankets? Do you like to have a salt lamp or essential oil diffuser on that turns off at a specific time? Perhaps you fall asleep best with two pillows to rest your head on and one to hug? Whatever your ideal sleep environment is, create that space for yourself every night.

5. Get on a sleep schedule

If you sync your body clock with your lifestyle, the easier you will find it to fall asleep quickly and wake up easily in the morning. Choose a specific time or time frame to start winding down every night and your body will get used to it!

Sleep is crucial for everyone, so it is worth putting in the time to discover what habits help you get quality sleep as often as possible.
