How to Stay Positive When Stressed: 5 Good Habits

You might know that you struggle with negative thinking and stress or you might think of yourself as a generally positive person, but in times of stress find this positive attitude slipping. Whatever the case, you’re completely normal!

The last year has given us all a lot to deal with so it’s understandable if you’re feeling particularly burned out or stressed at the moment.

In this article, we’re going to suggest 5 habits that will keep stress at bay and help you stay positive.

5 Things To Do To Reduce Stress:

1. Keep a journal

When it comes to ideas on how to stay positive, one of the best is keeping a journal. Not only does keeping a journal allow you to clear your mind of worries, but in writing down the things that you are grateful for, you shift your mindset into a more positive one.

Try writing in your journal for just five or ten minutes in the morning. This is sure to set you up for a good day!

2. Try to reduce negative influences

Everything from what we eat to what we read has an impact on our ability to manage stress and stay positive. You don’t have to cut out everything, but you should experiment with cutting out alcohol/social media/ excessive consumption of the news and other habits in order to see if you feel more positive.

3. Give yourself a break

Placing too much pressure on yourself to do things can cause stress to build up unnecessarily and can make you view things more negatively.

Be sure to give yourself breaks and never to blame yourself for resting.

4. Watch a comedy

This tip for how to stay positive may stay simple, but it truly works! Find some TV shows or movies that make you laugh and keep them in mind for times when you feel stressed or negative.

5. Practice breathing exercises

Breathing exercises are a great way to calm down the body and to get things in perspective. You can combine this with yoga or just complete a simple mindfulness exercise once a day.

The main thing to remember in terms of how to stay positive is that things always get better. Bookmark this page to have these habits to hand when you need them.
