Has your workout routine fallen by the wayside during the craziness of the festive season? Maybe you have struggled to lose those last few pounds that you gained over the summer?
Great news: none of that matters. The journey toward January 1st holds the promise of a fresh start for everyone. In honor of our commitment to helping you achieve your health goals, we present to you our top three new year resolution ideas for boosting your fitness in 2020.
The key to creating a workout routine that will stand the test of time is to choose exercise modalities that you enjoy. Hate the gym? Then workout at home using an app. Hate running? Why not try dancing or swimming instead? Lacking motivation to workout alone? Grab a friend and become exercise buddies, or join a fitness class or boot camp and meet new friends. You can also hire a Personal Trainer to keep motivation levels high, or join a 30-day fitness challenge!
Taking the stairs instead of the elevator has to be the easiest fitness hack of all time. It may feel hard at first, but you will be surprised at how quickly your body will adjust. Climbing the stairs is one of those new year resolution ideas that brings fitness into your life without needing to make any big changes to your routine. It incorporates both cardiovascular and resistance exercise and is excellent for toning your legs and butt.
Fitness can be as expensive and complicated or cost-effective and simple as you want it to be. If a gym membership is out of your price range after the expense of Christmas, then invest in a new pair of sneakers and hit the pavements. Fitting in a short run every day is much easier than finding time for a full gym session. Running brings many positive benefits, including cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, and mental wellbeing. If you prefer exercising with others, why not find a local running group? This is great for extra motivation on those chilly winter days when you'd rather be snuggled up in bed.
There are so many great new year resolution ideas for fitness. You may have thought of some of your own while reading our top three. We challenge you to incorporate even just one of these ideas into your life in January. You'll be enjoying the positive benefits of regular exercise in no time.
